The book dedicated to Clotilde Jiménez is published on the occasion of the 2020 exhibition at the Chicago gallery, entitled, The Contest. Providing a full record of the artist's work to date, the book captures the expansive oeuvre of Clotilde Jiménez. This monograph chronicles the story of his wonderful journey thus far, as told through his contemporary Nathaniel Mary Quinn, independent curator and friend, Danny Dunson, interviews with writer Emily Zimmerman and author Joshua Bennett.

Jiménez's work is unconventionally figurative, often times within an abstract context, highlighting deeply personal and emotional explorations to create form, particularly in reference to the body. The Contest is a humble exploration of the limitations placed on the body, particularly that of the Black body. Although the experience behind Jiménez's work is subjective and directly relates to his relationship to his father and upbringing, a level of universal symbolism is present, ultimately exploring rigid definitions of Blackness.
